Our family, six adults and six children under ten, spent two weeks at High Groves Estate this past June and July. The experience was exceptional. The house itself was beautiful, spacious, and comfortable, easily accommodating our large active group and the setting was magnificent. The staff including an outstanding hostess, who also served as our cook, the house keepers and the maintenance people made our stay pleasant, relaxing and trouble free. The house, and our clothing, were kept sparkling clean.
The highlight for the children was a beautiful large swimming pool set below the Peloponnesian hills. They loved visiting the working farm and seeing the chickens, ducks, horses and other farm animals, as well as a 2000 year old olive tree. In the mornings we were often visited by goats and horses, who came up to the house to graze.
The house is quite isolated, making for a quiet respite from the touring we did. It is an hour or so by car from numerous ancient sites including Mycenae, Ancient Epidavros, and Corinth to name a few. There is a village with a beach and some nice restaurants about fifteen minutes away.
The listing and listing photos were accurate, if anything understated. The owner was very responsive and helpful in answering our questions, accommodating our special needs, and helping us to plan our stay in Greece. Our group is well traveled having spent significant amounts of time in places ranging from Rome to France to western rural China. Our trip to Greece was a highlight of our family’s travel experiences made so by High Groves Estate.
